hell day 2 – rosemary you suck

Our necks are a bit sore, but the early highlight of the day was getting Emile’s satanic reverse gore-wrist metal head-banging action thing happening, and going fairly mental to Agoraphobic Nosebleed again.

The next part I wanted to work on was kind of an animation of dead corpses by an inferi or demon of some sort, and had this idea of using one of the scenes from the great horror movie Rosemary’s Baby, which in the spirit of non-piracy, I’d actually gone into town and bought. Tomorrow I’ll be returning it. The best thing about piracy is that region copyright protection isn’t included, and even better, they work. I’d be happy to buy legitimate DVDs if a) some asshole wasn’t fucking with the idea of legitimate use by implementing all kinds of really anal ‘protection’ and b) the same asshole wasn’t ripping everybody off by charging $30 for what is less than 50 cents worth of labour and materials.

So Rosemary got cut. Lucky I had my favourite European horror-schlock-gore-exploitation director on hand – Jesus Franco and the delectable Vampiros Lesbos. After pretending we were sinful souls being consumed by gargantuan asps, we moved on to animating corpses, which is probably the best idea I’ve had all year. Anyway, it’s all a very serious practical expression of Jean Baudrillard’s Symbolic Exchange and Death, there’s no cheap thrills to be found here…

hell day 1 – you are entering a world of pain

Agoraphobic nosebleed, Slayer, Sunn, Bolt Thrower, lots of strangling each other, grim dead reaper head-banging, and then some dancey-dance… then drinking beer, eating bread, and watching The Mighty Boosh. So that’s how my next big work began today, this evening, tonight, Hell, starring Cornelia, Radovan, Emile, me, bikinis, satan, televisions, and other stuff we don’t know about yet. I forgot to turn my camera on, so Cornelia, who is now flogging is making up for all the times I’ve slapped her face up here …

12min.max – hell

Continuing my playtime in Zürich, I forgot to mention Tanzhaus Wasserwerk offered me a place in 12min.max, which is on from November 11th to 13th. So there’ll be lots of fun things happening for my last month in Zürich.

Emile is still here so he’ll be doing satanic video and audio, and romping around like a despot in corpsepaint, noise from Agoraphobic Nosebleed, video from Rosemary’s Baby, and Cornelia who I danced with in Mercy45 is turning up to get into a bikini and ritually sacrifice a few babies or something…

Actually the work is two intertwined texts, the first Dante’s Inferno, and the second Jean Baudrillard’s essay on death in Symbolic Exchange and Death, then there’s a host of Chinese Door Gods and demons, and plenty of death metal, fast dancing and more of the same.

-edit- for those who like this kind of stuff, this entry is incidently the 666th post I’ve made. (all hail … etc etc …)
