《迷狂之梦天》 journey of the unrestrained

For annyone in or near Guangzhou this weekend, the Guangdong Modern Dance Company is performing in the company Small Theatre in Sha He Ding. Go and see the most beautiful dancers in China. Dunno about the translation of 迷狂之梦天 as The Journey of Unrestrained, but if they say so…

Li He (790-815A.D.) is one of the leading poets in the Tang Dynasty. His writings are full of imagination but at the same time beautifully versed and structured. To draw on the imagination and physical aesthetics of his poetry, Zhang Xiaoxiong worked out the minds and the bodies of the Guangdong Modern Dance Company dancers in three weeks’intensive training and rehearsing, taking them and finally inviting the audience through The Journey of Unrestrained.

Zhang Xiaoxiong is an ethnic Chinese Australian modern dance artist, who is presently the associate professor at the Taipei National Academy of Fine Arts as well as the modern dance instructor at the Cloudgate Dance Company. Zhang graduated from Jinan University, Guangzhou. His dance career started and flourished in Australia after he immigrated there in 1983. He has danced with One Extra in Sydney, the National Dance Theatre, and the Vis-a-vis in Canberra. He was awarded the Best Male Dancer in Australia award in 1991.
