3108 blog day 2005

Well, I didn’t even know about it… so much for being bleeding-bloody-edge and stuff. Well it’s because some blogger in Israel in a giant funk of 1337 $p33|< decided the date August 31, that’s 3108 looks like ‘blog’, and why the hell don’t we all go crazy in a self-referential fit of blogomania?

Well, me too. And they even have a wiki page already.

BlogDay posting instructions:

Find 5 new Blogs that you find interesting
Notify the 5 bloggers that you are recommending them as part of BlogDay 2005
Write a short description of the Blogs and place a link to the recommended Blogs
Post the BlogDay Post (on August 31st) and
Add the BlogDay tag using this link: http://technorati.com/tag/BlogDay2005 and a link to the BlogDay web site at http://www.blogday.org

— 3108 Day 2005

So, my five in no particular order, and recently added to my list of ‘read most days when I can be buggered dealing with dial-up modems and haven’t fallen into a sugar coma’ are …

Leaking State Secrets
The Dragnet
Diacritic | art and culture
uncoy.com | la vie viennese
asiapundit

Naturally there’s a high China/Asia thing going on there, or artartart-and-more-fucking-art. Whaddaya expect? A link to the Kristian Krusaders Nazi Stormfront Blog (We’re Straight, We’re White, We’re Men (no gay art here. or foreigners. hair must be shaved before logging in. etc etc)).

And there’s Blog Day meetups in several of my old haunts, including Hong Kong, Beijing, Taiwan, and Melbourne. The Taipei one is especially nostalgic for me because it’s at the Taipei Artist Village, where I was shacked up and became increasingly strange earlier this year.

Anyway, waste some time with a coffee and read a bunch of stuff that isn’t always hugely new, but is bloody good and makes TV a quaint relic from an impoverished past.
